"Meleri" - Fire ritual

"Meleri" is a ritual performed in some temples in North Kerala . Here the devotees jump into a heap of live coal as offering . This photo , taken from Muchilott Kavu , Payyanur in Kerala . The ritual happened at early morning 4AM and lasted for almost one hour. There was no major injuries happened to the performer who is shown in the live coal.

Location: Payyannur, Kannur District in Kerala. India
