Each year for the festival of Thaipusam in Penang, Malaysia, after preparing their bodies and minds months in advance, devotees of the Hindu God, Lord Muruga have their bodies pierced to show their respect and thanks for giving for prayers answered. They walk and dance joyfully in the searing sun to a hilltop temple several kilometers away..
