end of another day at Roberts Lake Resort

Category: Sense of Place

Photo and caption by Rose Carlson

Every summer for more than a decade, our lab has rented a cabin (or two) on shores of Roberts Lake. We use the cabin as a base of operations for research on threespine stickleback (fishes) in Roberts and many nearby lakes. Of the hundreds of photos that I have taken from the dock at Roberts Lake, this is my favorite. The rich blues and greens of the lake, mountains, and sky in early evening contrast with the reds of our canoe and an unknown fisherman's dingy. The bright orange "floats" that top our minnow traps also decorate the wooden dock.

Location: Roberts Lake near Campbell River on Vancouver Isl., British Columbia
