The long beard man

Along the crowded streets of Jaipur, near the Maharaja’s palace, one can come across the shop of Tikan Chand, a photographer who still owns the camera of his grandfather: a wooden camera that took its first picture in the 1860’s era. Tikam spends his days inviting torurists to pose for a portrait, which he perfectly executes equipped with film and chemicals for the development. With a digital camera placed in the darkroom of Tikam’s machine I took some pictures of the people walking down the street: an unusual perspective that aims at paying a tribute to the early days of photography.
