A Dome of Water

Category: Outdoor Scenes

Photo and caption by Suresh Muthukrishnan

Moments before the geyser erupted, the steam bubbling up from deep pushes the water filling the cracks and open spaces. Just this one time, rising water surface remained unbroken and bulged up forming the dome providing the opportunity for this rare shot. The word "Geyser" originated in Iceland referring to hot springs that jet out water at certain frequency. The geyser pictured is located near the town of Geyser in Iceland. Iceland is located along volcanically active mid-ocean ridge, resulting in numerous hot springs and geysers.

Location: Geyser, Iceland
