After a long day's drive from Ames, Iowa, we were racing to see a little of the Badlands before sunset. As we approached the park's unusual rock formations, they were highlighted by the setting sun. The kids were fascinated and ran out of the car as soon as we parked. As they all lined up to stare, all I could notice were the long dark shadows cast against the most beautiful golden light and blue sky!
