Dictation by Daylight

After one and a half days of trekking into the jungle, I came upon a remote village with a small, one room school. Lacking electricity and artificial light, the teacher and students relied upon the afternoon sun to read their texts and complete their lessons. The traditional thanaka bark paste, which is used primarily as a cosmetic, is visible on the teacher's cheeks.
Location: A remote village east of Kalaw, Myanmar
