Category: Sense of Place

Photo and caption by Quentin Curzon

As an escape to our overwhelming, forever changing world, in the calm and beauty of the past, this elderly man let's his mind wonder in the remains of an ancient civilization. I captured this moment, before losing myself on the same journey. Built by the Mughal emperor Akbar (1556-1605), Faathepur Sikiri (City of Victory) palace is a good example of Mughal architecture, mainly constituted of Sikri sandstone. This whole city was soon deserted due to water problems, giving the palace a ghost town-like atmosphere until nowadays.

Location: India, Uttar Pradesh, Agra.
