Baby in Basket

Category: Spontaneous Moments

Photo and caption by Olivia Tierk

This picture was taken in Old Bagan, Myanmar, formerly known as Burma. The woman was just standing there watching a group of tourists filter into an ancient temple, and her baby, sitting calmly in the basket, just sat there and watched people too. The baby's face is painted with Thanaka paste, which is common in the area, and a horse cart, a common mode of transportation in the town, waits in the background. Bagan is a beautiful place, and while this photo doesn't capture the landscape of the town, I think it captures the local people, and the spirit of the town, really well.

Location: Bagan, Myanmar
