Lonely at the Top
Category: Sense of Place

While visiting Juneau, Alaska, I took a helicopter to the top of a glacier to ride an Iditarod dog sled team. Much to my surprise these dogs were gaunt, not anything as I expected. When I took this photo I teared up realizing how these dogs are trained to run and brave the cold for the longest dog sled race in the world. This was an unnerving moment for me.
