Category: Sense of Place

Photo and caption by Yingting Shih

It is a religious building in Taiwan. I photographed the dark and light side of buddhas at the same time to illustrate the conversational sense of religions. In Chinese beliefs, religions help people communicate with themselves. In sociology, it was called "reflexivity". People try to discard their bad attitude and find their better character through religions, i.e through talking to their own buddhas to find a better self.

Location: Taipei, Taiwan
