Festivals offer a rare chance for one to experience some of the most traditional and spiritual elements of the Bhutanese culture. They are brought to life with colour, music, drama and dance as villagers and townspeople gather to witness the sacred rituals. Taken on the last day of the Jakar Tsechu festival at Jakar Dzong, Bumthang, this religious folk dance depicts the local culture through its elaborate and colourful costumes. Here, a performer spins while holding his ceremonial hand bell.
