Baby Elephant Walk

Category: Outdoor Scenes

This shot was taken in Manas National Park, Assam, India which is also an Elephant Reserve. Hundreds of elephant herds move along natural corridors in search of fresh succulent grass which is their primary food. As I tracked and monitored a specific herd moving early in the morning I noticed that this baby was straying. Instinctively holding back I began to concentrate and observe this baby and its behavior for quite some time. Finally my patience paid off and I was delighted to fire away my shots of it spraying itself with mud in order to protect itself from insects against the sun.
