Photo and caption by Daniel McClintock

Every January the Colorado town of Ouray conducts North America's largest ice climbing contest. The city creates the river of ice with a series of spigots at the top of Uncompahgre Gorge. An unidentified climber, one of nearly 3,000 contestants, is about halfway up the 150-foot wall of ice.
