Misty Forest

Category: Sense of Place

Some nomadic Indian tribes move for the hot summer period from Jammu to misty and refreshing forests of the Himalayas in Kashmir region. They set up camps and live with their big families in huge tents. Dogs, cattle and all utensils are carried with them. At night impenetrable darkness reigns in the forest, where tigers attack the most unwary. Daytime on glades a school for children is organized with education in basic subjects and the English language. I was lucky to live with these people a few days in one of the tents. On the shot I tried to capture the magic of that forest.

Location: Patnitop, Kashmir region, India
