Lanterns of the Lord

Category: Sense of Place

Photo and caption by brian arnold

Place yourself in the hot Israeli desert middle of the summer, walking through a city thousands of years old; sweat pouring down your face surrounded by literally people from the entire world a mix of language to make babel proud. Making your way through an ancient church where a devout blind woman prays near the site of crucifixion; entering into a short cramped hallway only a few feet long that you have to traverse bent nearly in half. And suddenly your there inside the tomb of Jesus greeted by these lanterns.

Location: Church of the Holy Sepulchre The Aedicule, Jerusalem, Israel
