A group of Yale University students and I had to film beekeeping projects for an environmental documentary on community-based forest conservation, one of the initiatives of the Tanzania Forest Conservation Group (TFCG). Feeling nervous, I excused myself from the exercise and photographed instead, grabbing this shot of my friends and elderly beekeepers as they moved towards the hives. After developing the negative I realized I had captured one of the villagers looking on at the activities with a penetrating gaze. This photograph is a scan of monochrome print shot on an analog camera.
