The Magic Fountain of Montjuïc

Category: Sense of Place

Photo and caption by Pablo Riera

This fountain was constructed for the 1929 Barcelona International Exposition. The four columns behind the water, were built as a tribute to the Catalanism movement by representing the four strips that cross the catalonian flag. They were demolished under the dictatorship of Prime Minister Migel Primo de Rivera, and re-erected in 2010, a few meters away from the original location. This picture was taken during a summer night in Barcelona.
