Leading upto the world's highest motorable pass!

Category: Sense of Place

The final mile towards the world's highest motorable road, at Khardungla pass is more treacherous in reality - than it appears here. A steep climb thru the high-altitude pass (18,380 ft) gives even the best of 4W terrain vehicles a test of their power & performance. Roads do not exist in some places, while at others, roads suddenly vanish! Its incredible how the Border Roads Organization(BRO) workforce even makes roads here in the first place, and go about maintaining them as well. Adrenaline gushing, oxygen dipping, nervous feeling - these are sentiments experienced...

Location: Ladakh, Jammu & Kashmir, India
