Maha Kumbh Fair, held early this year in Allahabad after 144 years, is known as the biggest congregation of people from all over India and the world. The place exudes vibrancy, colour and energy as people from all walks of life travel for a holy dip on the Ganga river or catch a glimpse of an extraordinary event. I spent most of my evenings hanging around the camps of various holy men (the man in the photo is called 'Straight Hand Holy Man' as his right arm is fixed after years of meditation in a single posture) who offer a drag of their 'holy smoke' as reward.
