My wife and I were driving east on the highway near Kirkjubæjarklaustur on the southern coast of Iceland on the night of March 3 when the night sky suddenly erupted in colorful aurora. We were just about to cross the bridge over Landbrotsvötn, and we pulled over so I could make this long exposure. Experiencing the aurora bright enough to see with your naked eye is one of the most incredible experiences of my life, and doing so is something I hope everyone gets the chance to enjoy one day.
