Sloth Bear Too Humanized for Comfort

Category: Spontaneous Moments

Photo and caption by Saravanan Paramasivan

This is a picture of a sloth bear at Shimoga Zoo. This particular Female is so used to humans because she was born in captivity and was raised by a human she is much more comfortable getting close to a human than to another sloth bear in the same enclosure. She was rescued by the wild life sleuths but then she still needs conditioning. This was a picture taken during one of my visits for a photo shoot to raise funding for the zoo. Neither the male (captive raised) nor the female where interested in each other. They were interested in the humans outside their cell. Irony?

Location: Shimoga Zoo
