Tens of thousands of pilgrims wander for days or even weeks to celebrate Ethiopian Christmas in the rock hewn churches of Lalibela. Carved out of solid rock more than 800 years ago, they inspire awe still. A truly remarkable place, as alive today as centuries past, where you can’t help but feel as if transported back to a different time.
