Looking for storms: hit by the hail

Category: Travel Portraits

Photo and caption by Shruti Uppal

Storm-chasing in North East Kansas in near perfect conditions. We didn't see a tornado, but out of nowhere, a lone baseball-sized hailstone hit the windscreen, leaving an incredible spiral crack which spanned the breadth of the window. We had to continue driving with it for a couple more hours before we could find somewhere to stay for the night and get it replaced first thing in the morning before heading out again.

Location: North East Kansas, USA
