La negra Tomasa at Indiano's Party

Category: Travel Portraits

Photo and caption by José Luis Vega Mata

In La Palma there is an annual party celebrating the people that came back from emigration period on Cuba, and the stories tells that they make up the face in white to look more rich and less hard workers. They brought with them their servants that usually was black cuban people but now people fancy dress like them being one of the main thing of the celebration. It's probably one of the most famous partys on carnivals from Canary Island and the most fun I ever have been.

Location: Santa Cruz de La Palma, La Palma
