Baltimore evokes a wide array of feelings for those who have lived or worked there. The photo was taken across from The Walters Art Museum on a beautiful winter day just as the sun was setting in the Mount Vernon district: a place of historic significance and some of the most beautiful 19th century architecture in the US. Large, bare tree limbs provided an almost eerie foreground to the Washington Monument, Mount Vernon United Methodist Church & Peabody Institute adding dark shadows to the fast-receding light. A reflection of the many contractions of the city itself: both charming and dark.
