The Sabinyo Group of mountain gorillas inhabits a forested area in Volcanoes National Park, Rwanda. The hike up was slippery and some bushwhacking with machetes by the guides was required to get to the group but the reward was priceless. For one magical hour we observed the group as they played, rested, fed on bamboo shoots and nursed their young. It was an honour to have Francois as our guide as he had been a porter for Dian Fossey when she worked in the area close by. This little baby put on a show for us swinging from vines, running up the bamboo and playing with the other youngsters.
