Hindu pilgrims at the Maha Kumbh Mela, 2013, use pontoon bridges to cross the mighty Ganges river. Held every 12 years, the Maha Kumbh Mela is considered to be the largest gathering of humanity at any one place. A reported 80 million pilgrims attended the two month long festival, to bathe in the confluence of the rivers Ganges and Yamuna with the mythical river Saraswati.
