Jerusalem Priest
Category: Travel Portraits
Photo and caption by Michael Bethea
I was walking through down the via delarosa while in Jerusalem trying to find my wife amidst the crowds of pilgrims. I was drawn aside by a priest who sat in a shrine to St. Anne. He smiled at me in my hurry and asked if I wanted to sit down. I did. I looked at him and while the sun overpowered everything outside, blinding me and giving me a lot of overexposure problems, it shone through this closet-door of the shrine entrance, and his eyes shone and smiled. He was a minister to this holy place. I asked if I could take his picture as I sat before him. He said, "Of course! You are my brother."
