Eye to Eye with the Elusive Banana Slug
Category: Spontaneous Moments
Photo and caption by George Crouse
While vacationing in Washington state (USA), we read in a guidebook that banana slugs, though elusive, could be found in this region--under leaves, around moss, in damp places. And so began the search. One day, with no success in our mission, our son Jack decided to brave the weather (it was raining a bit) and explore a lighthouse in Cape Disappointment State Park. At that moment, to Jack's surprise, a big banana slug crossed the sidewalk right in front of him. Jack wanted to get a closer look at the creature. We call this photo "Jack goes eye to eye with the elusive banana slug."
Location: Cape Disappointment State Park, Washington state (USA)
