Fish Monger

Category: Travel Portraits

Photo and caption by Tasha Komery

Goa is fairly well traveled by now, but not so much that the culture of the area does not remain. I remember walking down our street in search of the fish market. It was tucked away down an alley and when I got through to the other side, I found an explosion of colour and chatter. It was mostly women, all with colourful dresses and gold bangles. There was something about this woman, the way she was sitting, her leathered skin, her workers hands and feet. I usually take photos of faces, but her body told a much more relevant story.

Location: Goa, India
