The City Palace is full of beauty, but this guard was one of the most interesting things I saw. He seemed so thoughtful, comfortable in his position. I imagined that his life was busy with a wife and children, and work was a time for him to reflect. I felt like a fly on the wall, getting an glimpse into this personal moment.
