African Escargot
Category: Spontaneous Moments
Photo and caption by Ali Johnson
While breaking for lunch, my professor snuck off to a street vendor and found grilled snails on a stick. He brought them back and encouraged everyone to try a bite. Not your typical escargot considering it was out of its shell and then there was the taste; think more dirt. My friend held up an uneaten snail and gave it a "voice." I thought how alien it looked and decided to snap a photo. Maybe a good sauce would have helped, but a good memory regardless.
Location: Cotonou, Benin, West Africa
