Vietnamese Unlucky Ducks
Category: Travel Portraits

Motorbikes, the typical means of transportation in Vietnam, are everywhere. Relatively cheap to buy & operate, they carry unlikely cargo. Horns beeping, families of six wearing smog-protecting face masks hang on while dodging motorbikes draped with rugs, laden with bricks, stacked with tires, bulging with fruit crates, listing with shifting furniture--you get the idea. So, after two weeks in Vietnam, I didn't expect to be surprised. Was I wrong! To my amazement, leaving the Mekong Delta, I passed this friendly man off to market, his baskets overflowing with dozens of unlucky ducks. Surprise!
