The Simple Life

During a cruise in July 2009, my husband and I disembarked in Jeju, South Korea in search of an internet cafe. In front of the cafe sat this old woman on a piece of cardboard. Oblivious to the noise and traffic around her, she simply prepared her fresh vegetables for sale. The contrast between tradition and modernity struck me. Also in contrast to the tranquility of this woman were the wild hands of the man in the poster above her. I later learned that he is a singer and songwriter also known as the "Korean Stevie Wonder."
Location: Jeju, South Korea
