This old monk was shuffling up the hill behind Sera Monastery past the Buddha rock painting on his way to the hermitage, when I saw him and took this photo. He was making very slow, but determined progress. I stayed where I was so I wouldn't startle him. When he reached me, through the help of a translator, I found out that he was 85 years old and had joined the monastery as a small boy. He was delightful to talk too. But he told me he was too old and dull to be of interest to a foreigner. So he showed me where the monastery kitchen was, and actually got the cook to give me a tour.
