Tibetan kids in classroom
Category: Travel Portraits
Photo and caption by Maarten Peeters
During a visit through Tibet, we stopped at a small village in the mountains and the school administrator was kind enough to let us visit the school and see the children at work during class. The classroom was very basic: some desks with chairs, blackboard and a bookcase in the back. No heating, so most kids had to sit with jackets on to keep warm. Teachers visit these remote village only a few months a year, after that the children typically help the parents in the fields.
