Ice Sculpture
Category: Sense of Place
Photo and caption by Wesley Wong
The photo is somewhat of an illusion because of the way I shot it. Although the ice block in the foreground looks massive compared to the man and his dog, the actual size of the ice was only 1 ft high. The small block of ice was only a small piece of a much larger ice sculpture replica of the Great Wall in China. The early morning light shining through the ice turned the simple scene into a magical landscape for me. It was really one of those wonderful surprises you don’t expect when your editing a photo shoot and one of the reasons I ‘m still nuts about shooting photos.
Location: Harbin, China
