Wanderlust

The Great Wall of China is also the grafitti wall of its thousands of daily visitors. Many of the chalk marks -- whether in the Cyrillic, Latin or Chinese script, however, appear hastily scribbled, the legacy of their authors thus short-lived. Amongst the faint signatures I caught sight of this purposefully written word: WANDERLUST. Unlike its neighbouring scribblings it boasted neither origin nor identity of its author, but it highlighted the reason why the wall brings together and hence bears the marks of travellers of such varied backgrounds.
Location: 慕田峪长城, The Great Wall of China (Mutianyu), Beijing, China
