Losing Your Head At the Athens Central Market
Category: Sense of Place

My wife and I took a walking tour of the Athens Central Market on April 16, 2011. It was filled with vendors in their stalls, vibrant colors, noisy vendors and shoppers, and the smells of meat, fish, and spices. We met one butcher who proudly told us his family had operated his stall since 1912. Somehow out of all the pictures we felt the lambs heads in all their gory glory will always stay in our memory. The Tour was a highlight of our visit.
