Gorilla Territory by Brian Hampton

# I was fortunate to be able to photograph a family of Mountain Gorillas in Rwanda. On this particular day the gorillas came out of the mountains to feed on eucalyptus trees. (Eucalyptus trees provide medicinal qualities for gorillas.) As this Silverback led his family back into the mountains he paused for a few moments at this spot. I often wonder if he was just taking in the view or if the scenery triggered a memory passed on from his ancestors of a time when gorillas were truly free to roam and void of mankind’s threats against them.
Location: Parc National des Volcans, Rwanda, Africa
