Photo and caption by Edith Gregory
Cakchiquel indigenous women selling flowers in the Chichicastenango Saturday market. Smell; tortillas baking, fresh flowers, & burning herbs. Sight; Every color imaginable in every pattern conceived. Sound: babies crying, bartering in broken Spanish and English, grinding maze. Taste: tortillas fresh the grill, pungent pork. Touch; beautifully crafted textiles as durable as they are soft. A complete assault on the Senses!
Location: Chichicastenango, Guatemala, Guatemalan western highlands, 6,500 feet.
