This photo was taken in the swamp areas of southern Iraq in the summer of 2010. It was late in the evening, and the waterways we were driving through were filled with people in their boats. The late afternoon light reflecting on the water made the scene look cool and clean, and the backlit man appears peaceful and calm in his anonymity.
