Government Failure
Category: Sense of Place
Photo and caption by Tamara Barylski
This building was set up by the Belizean government to prepare and clear the archaeological site for tourists. When their jobs were complete and the jungles cleared, the remainder was left to rot. Literally. The roof and shelves have collapsed. The bags have split open to spill their contents. An organized and accurate record has turned into rubble, submitting Caracol's secrets back to the depths of the unknown.
Location: Caracol Archaeological Ruins, Belize
