A Place to Reflect on Your Footprint: Saudi Arabia
Category: Sense of Place
Photo and caption by Tamara Petrou
Saudi Arabia is the perfect place to snub 'western' pastimes like going to the bar or movie theatre - they simply don't exist. But just outside of the city of Al Khobar, Saudi citizens, and visitors alike, go for walks, picnics and camp on pristine dunes(except during the molten-like summer months). The dunes are a wonderful place to stop and reflect on your footprint within the world; to imagine the people, over thousands of years, who have come and gone without leaving a trace. Less than an hour after you've left, your footsteps will disappear and only the sands will know you were there.
Location: Al Khobar, Saudi Arabia
