We were sitting along a wall in the Buddhist temple of the Sherpa village of Phortse, Nepal (elevation approx. 13,000 ft, Mount Everest region), observing the newly and magnificently painted main room. This young girl came before us and, leaning on a prayer mattress, exchanged a silent greeting with my daughter.
