A Soul for a Sol
Category: Travel Portraits
Photo and caption by Hayden Tornabene
This particular image was captured on the island of Taquile, located on the Lake Titicaca in Peru. This island still maintains many of its traditional practices, an important one being the belief of a photograph's potential to steal a portion of your soul. Many of the people on this island are willing to part with a small part of their soul, for a few sols, the Peruvian currency. This gentleman was weaving when I came across him, and he allowed me to take a few photographs for a bit of spare change. I truly hope that this man's soul remains intact and I truly thank him for this image. Enjoy!
