Sister, Mother, and Friend
Category: Sense of Place
Photo and caption by Caitlin Kyle
This picture was taken of two orphans on a plateau in Kenya, Africa while on a medical mission trip with Baylor University. The baby has a condition called hydrocephaly which could be treated with surgery in a developing country to reduce or prevent brain damage by improving the flow of cerebral spinal fluid. However, there was nothing we could do for the child with our limited resources. The older girl has been taking care of her brother since his birth. This is not an uncommon situation for the village they live in.
Location: Ahero, Kenya
