Nuns at Prayer
Category: Sense of Place
Photo and caption by Chris Martin
These Buddhist nuns greeted our small group of photographers and welcomed us by saying a prayer for our safe travel. The low, rolling chant was mesmerizing and provided an incredible window into the devotion and community of this group of women. I photographed them as they prayed having received approval to do so from the head of the convent. The variety of pink hues in the robes and the strong lines formed by the rows they had settled into provided strong elements to compose this image with.
