Spring Fling

One of my favorite places to travel to, is my grandfather's cabin he built in the foothills of the Sierra Mountains in California. In Spring, the yard is filled with bearded irises, golden poppies and wild flowers. This year, a unique native flower sprung up and I was completely intrigued with the small star shaped blossoms around a cluster of unopened purple buds. As I grabbed my Nikon camera, a buzzing furry insect was lured to the flower and spent a few moments of bliss in a 'spring fling.'

Location: Northern California
